How Much Can You Earn From Forex Trading in Nigeria?
There is no honest number, because forex returns are variable and most retail traders lose money.

No honest answer exists, and that is the arithmetic
Anyone quoting a monthly percentage before seeing your trades is guessing. Returns depend on your strategy, position size, the number of trades, and the spread you pay each time. Two people with the same deposit can finish the month with very different balances.
A forex profit calculator is only as good as its inputs. It takes entry price, exit price, lot size and pip value and returns a gross figure. It cannot know your broker's spread, swap charges, or whether your bank transfer cleared before you opened the trade.
Treat any advertised return as marketing until you can reproduce it yourself on a demo account. The SEC Nigeria register at sec.gov.ng tells you which firms are registered capital market operators, and retail forex brokers are not licensed for online FX dealing in Nigeria, so most residents trade with offshore-regulated firms.
The costs that quietly decide your outcome
Every trade starts behind. You pay the spread when you enter and again when you exit, and if you hold overnight you may pay a swap. A strategy that looks profitable on a chart can turn negative once those costs are counted.
Funding adds another layer. Bank transfer is the main rail, with OPay, PalmPay, Moniepoint, card and USSD transfer also in use. Each channel has its own charges and timing, and CBN rules govern moving currency out of Nigeria. Check the broker's funding page and your bank transfer app for the actual numbers before you commit.
Position size is the other silent cost. On a small account, one oversized lot can wipe out weeks of careful gains. The arithmetic of risk is boring, but it is the part that keeps you in the market long enough to learn.
Session hours shape how much screen time you need
In WAT, Sydney runs 23:00 to 08:00, Tokyo 01:00 to 10:00, London 09:00 to 18:00, and New York 14:00 to 23:00. The London and New York overlap, 14:00 to 18:00 WAT, is when activity is usually heaviest.
If you have a day job in Lagos or Abuja, that overlap falls in your afternoon. You do not need to trade every session. Many people pick one window and ignore the rest, which also cuts the number of trades and therefore the costs.
More screen time does not mean more profit. It often means more spread paid. Decide your window before the week starts and stick to it.
Why searches for the richest traders miss the point
Queries about the richest forex trader in the world, or the top 10 richest forex traders in Nigeria, usually lead to lists that cannot be verified. Rankings of personal wealth are not published by any regulator, and self-reported figures are not audited.
Studying how successful traders think can teach you about risk and discipline. Copying their position sizes cannot, because their capital and yours are not comparable.
If you want to learn forex trading, start with a demo account, a written plan, and a small live amount you can afford to lose entirely. Measure your results over months, not days, and keep your own record of every cost.
